Norfolk Island National Parks

If you are looking for a holiday destination with plenty of national parks you can go bushwalking and birdwatching in but still have modern conveniences and tours close-by, then a Norfolk Island holiday is for you.

National parks on Norfolk Island provide lovely walking trails through rainforest and bush reserve to coastal clifftops and secluded bays. A third of the island contains nature reserves and national parks so mountain biking and bushwalking are popular activities to enjoy on Norfolk Island.

Mt Pitt summit is situated in Norfolk Island National Park and is surrounded by meandering walking tracks of varying lengths, like Mt Bates Track or Palm Glen. Views to Phillip Island, a popular birdwatching location, and other island scenery from the top of Mt Pitt and Mt Bates, the highest point on the island at 319m, are spectacular and well worth the walk to the top. Just remember to pack your drink bottle because there are no drinking water facilities within Norfolk Island National Park.

Another of the 9 bushwalking tracks on Norfolk Island, Bird Rock track, winds out to the coast with a view out to Bird Rock surrounded by crystal clear waters. Duncombe Bay is another popular walk in the Norfolk Island National Park and offers walks out to Captain Cooks monument. Rocky Point Reserve and Ball Bay Reserve are other scenic walks to discover.
